Job Description
The Staff Accountant is an integral part of Schechter’s accounting team with responsibilities including multi-state payroll processing, fund administration, and other functions as determined by the Director of Finance and Accounting. We are searching for a dynamic and experienced professional that is willing to work hard and grow with our firm. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Serve as backup to the Senior Accountant processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll
- Key player in the monthly closing process, including account and bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis
- Oversee and support the external fund administrator (books, expense reconciliations, distributions) for private capital business
- Assist in the budget and forecast process
- Manage intercompany transactions and reporting for several related entities
- Drive accounting process creation, improvement, and documentation
- Assist with annual budget preparation, monthly forecasting, and cash flow projections
- Serve as back-up to teammates
- Liaise with other areas of the organization, including investment, insurance and private capital teams
- Complete ad-hoc projects and information requests
EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a corporate accounting environment
- Minimum of 2 years processing multi-state Payroll
- Financial analysis experience preferred
- Experience working with multiple entities and intercompany transactions
- Experience working with an ERP accounting system; Sage Intacct experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Financial Services industry background preferred (Wealth Management and/or Insurance)
- Highly analytical, structured thinker
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
